The Los Angeles Angels have been without superstar Mike Trout for the entire month of May as he deals with a left knee contusion.
It is just another injury in a long string for the Angels star outfielder, but Trout is working hard to return. With the 10-day IL window ending on May 11, there was hope that he would return.
However, that doesn't seem to be the case, although Trout didn't give a clear timeframe, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
“I don’t have a day, but I feel great,” Trout said. “Talking to doctors, it's kind of like a scab kind of thing. We're just adding exercises each and every day. And I’m coming in feeling good with no soreness so I’ll keep progressing.”
The left knee is the one Trout has had surgically repaired twice, so there is some caution for the 33-year-old. Yet, he admits he feels good and is taking the steps needed.
“I feel good,” Trout said, per Bollinger. “It’s been a very positive last few days. I’m not running, but I’ve been swinging the last three days. I’m up to 40 swings with no pain. Off the tee and flips in the cage. But the biggest thing will be running.”
Trout left the game after suffering the injury on April 30 against the Seattle Mariners, and he was later placed on the IL.
So, while he won't return on Sunday, there is some hope that he feels good and is working his way back to getting on the field.
